DJ Timber - "Revenge Of The Wild Style" mixtape OUT NOW!!! (Download & CD available)

"Bringing you back to the olden days, get that natural sound... Revenge is sweet, that’s why I take my time with it..." LISTEN TO 12 MINUTE PREVIEW:

"Revenge Of The Wild Style" = Raw Hip Hop, Break-Breaks, Afro Funk and more signed off with DJ Timber's trademark mix of classic sounds and unheard gems cut up and mixed perfectly together to inspire the hungry B-Boy.

I chose the title "Revenge Of The Wild Style" because I feel that every time I watch a battle online the music DJs are playing is getting further and further away from the foundation of our dance.  DJs are pitching up music in an attempt to make it more hype.  As a large percentage of B-Boys can't follow the tempo of a song through their whole throwdown, unnaturally high BPMs make it easier for them to hit 'A' beat (note, i did not say, hit 'THE' beat).

Most of this mix falls between 95bpm and 120bpm, which to some may sound 'slow' (faux pas of the day), but really that's the tempo that the dance form of B-Boyin has always been done to. When music gets above 130bpm it is almost impossible to stay ON beat for more than 10 seconds (however it becomes easier to hit A beat) and yet the majority of DJs on the scene are constantly playing music at 130bpm - 140bpm which is destroying the dance form.

I have been experimenting over the last 5 or 6 years with BPMs and B-Boyin, I've spun whole B-Boy events without pushing the tempo over 115bpm or 120bpm and so many B-Boys have thanked me for keeping the FUNK in the music true to it's the roots. I've literally pushed the pitch fader down to 0 from +8 on a few DJs now... STOP DOING THAT!!!

"“You have to appreciate the real ones because there’s not many left”. I saw Pete Rock post this quote last week. When I heard Timber’s new mix it bounced back to my mind like a flash back right a way. With the Revenge of the Wild Style Timber really carries on the tradition of our culture yet with his own personal style. A timeless mix that made me happy to rock the floor again and again."
